Try as he might, Ben Affleck continues to have problems breaking free from his alcohol addiction. PEOPLE magazine has reported that he is heading back to rehab, and a source from PEOPLE states “He is seeking treatment. He knew he needed help and was vocal about it.”
He was assisted in this by his ex, Jennifer Garner. On Wednesday she was seen entering his home and then left while appearing very upset. She later returned with an unidentified woman, and Affleck joined them in Garner’s car to drive to a treatment center in Malibu. The trio made a pit stop at a Jack in the Box along the way.
This is unfortunate because Affleck has been attending meetings and has been in ongoing treatment to help with his alcohol addiction. However, earlier this week he was photographed receiving a delivery of Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch whiskey, a box filled with Pacifico beer and other unidentifiable bottles.
In a statement from March 2017, Affleck said that he’d completed treatment to help with his addiction.
“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront,” he wrote on Facebook. “I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
His current love interest, Playboy’s 2018 Playmate for May seems to have different view on alcohol. She recently told PEOPLE that her favorite drink is “whiskey all day.” She continued, “Bourbon, for sure. I like whiskey and soda, which makes people cringe, but I like it.”
Affleck’s Ex, Jennifer Garner has a different focus, however – the couple’s children and Ben’s ability to help co-parent them.
“Is she happy about him hanging out with a very young Playboy model? Certainly not,” says a source in this week’s PEOPLE magazine. “But her concern right now is not who he is dating. What she ultimately cares about is his sobriety and whether she can rely on him to co-parent.”
Ben had been doing well until recently, according to a close friend. “Ben is doing well. He is in a good place mentally and has worked really hard to get there.” He continued, “While he still has his moments – and let’s be honest, everyone struggles – he continues to work hard on himself.”
The news of Affleck entering rehab again was first reported by TMZ.
